Middle East

Between 2003 and 2012, I reported from the Middle East, first for Agence France Presse and then as Bureau Chief for the London Times. My journalism covered the war in Iraq, the Palestinian Intifada and the Arab Spring uprisings.

My critically praised memoir, The Spiders of Allah: Travels of an Unbeliever on the Front Lines of Holy War, was published during this period and is based on my experiences working throughout the region for almost a decade.

South America

As the Latin America Bureau Chief for the London Times between 2012 and 2016, my reporting covered Venezuela, Brazil, Chile and Peru, and also included Mexico.

My novel CRONIX was written while I was living in Rio de Janeiro. In the context of science fiction it explores the collisions of extreme belief systems across time.
